GREAT ・ THICK
Mnemonic
Start with the shape of 大 (BIG). Now notice the extra dot inside — imagine it as extra weight or fullness, making the figure even GREATER or more THICK. Just one small mark changes BIG into something overflowing and powerful.
Example Vocabulary
- 太い（ふとい） – thick, fat
- 太る（ふとる） – to gain weight
- 太陽（たいよう） – the sun
- 太平洋（たいへいよう） – the Pacific Ocean
- 皇太子（こうたいし） – crown prince
