PEACEFUL ・ INEXPENSIVE
Mnemonic
At the top is a roof (宀), and beneath it is a woman (女). Picture a woman safe and comfortable under her roof, bringing a sense of PEACE. From there, think of 安 also meaning “cheap” or INEXPENSIVE — when life is secure and settled, things don’t cost much to maintain.

Peace and simplicity
From 安い (cheap) to 安心 (peace of mind) and 安全 (safety), 安 connects the feeling of security under a roof with the idea of things being simple, safe, or easy to manage.
